1856AD       Endgame

Not surprisingly, I won a spaceship victory in 1856AD:

The game was fun, as I don't normally play archipelago maps, and while they can definitely be a pain in the butt to load and unload all those troops, I think I learned a lot about naval warfare in this game. Now that I've noted the victory, it's time to go over the scoring system and see how many scenario points I accumulated. I'll go right down the list.

Victory of any sort: 25 points
Build Shakespeare's Theatre in your capital: 8 points (with a leader, but I did build it there)
Build Magellan's Expedition: 4 points
Build the Great Lighthouse: 3 points
Build the Hanging Gardens: 3 points (again with a leader, but I got it)
Have the highest Literacy rate at game's end: 5 points. I present the final demographics to you:

99% Literacy, oh yeah!

Fastest/Highest Scoring Conditions: I may have scored here, but don't know until others submit their reports. We'll see.
Control all land on starting continent at game's end: 6 points
Each additional landmass of ANY size under your complete control: 3*3 = 9 points. I had three others; take a look at the final graph to see:

I have the starting continent (6 points), the Japanese homeland (3 points), the tundra island to the northeast (3 points), and the extremely small island near the Zulus (3 points). Total of 9 points for the additional landmasses.

For each civ you encounter for whom you are their first contact: 2*3 = 6 points. I have pictures to show I was the first to contact the Japanese and Egyptians, and do I really have to prove I was the first contact for the Russians? I think that was pretty obvious.
For each city of size 30+ at game's end: 8*1 = 8 points. Given the lack of food on the starting island, I was only able to get one of these, the city of Karachi, and even that only JUST hit 30:

Karachi has exactly 60 food; so even that was close. Some of the Russian cities probably could have hit size 30, but those were captured, or if I had razed them, they would have just been replacements for razed cities. No, Karachi was definitely my only such city in thi game.

Control all sources of gems at game's end: 10 points (we started next to all of them! This was easy)
For each "AEGIS Crusier" unit you posses at game's end: 1*10 = 10 points. Take a look:

This was the first time I had ever built an AEGIS Cruiser, by the way.
For each fish or whale resource: 1*4 = 4 points. I already provided the picture for that earlier.

Adding up the total, I ended up with 101 scenario points. Not bad, if I do say so myself. I don't think that's enough to win, but it's got to be a pretty good score. My game score was 3738 points, which I thought was a bit disappointing. Well, you can't score as highly on archipelago maps, that's for sure. I'm going to be eagerly awaiting the results of this competition, and I'm anxious to see how others played this game. Too bad no one else will get to read this until July 1st! (as I write this, it's June 9th). In any case, I'll be talking about this game then.
